The Best U Now Plastic Surgery Reviews: What Patients Discovered After It Was Too Late

A certain type of business name should make you take another look—not because it sounds suspicious, but rather because it sounds too certain. The Best U Right Now. It’s not a description; it’s a promise. Furthermore, that kind of arrogance should raise at least one silent question before anything else in the field of cosmetic surgery, where patients are already vulnerable and frequently make decisions based more on hope than information.

Operating out of Plantation and Weston, Florida, The Best U Now Plastic Surgery promoted itself as a reasonably priced substitute for the celebrity-budget clinics that predominate Miami’s aesthetic corridor. On paper, the pitch made sense: a team with decades of combined experience, procedures ranging from Brazilian Butt Lifts to Botox, and high-quality results at reasonable prices. It seemed to provide a fair middle ground for a subset of patients who actually couldn’t afford the boutique end of the market. For some of them, it might have even worked. On certain platforms, reviews do feature happy clients complimenting front desk employees and expressing a sense of being taken care of. You shouldn’t discount those experiences. However, they shouldn’t have the final say either.

The complete picture, which is derived from patient evaluations, state records, and regulatory complaints, is much more somber. The facility received an F rating from the Better Business Bureau for failing to address five complaints that were filed. In the technical terms of consumer protection, this is about as damning a signal as the bureau can give. Patients gave the clinic a 1-star rating on RealSelf, and several reviewers specifically advised others to visit another facility. Six months after the procedure, a patient who had 360 liposuction reported seeing almost no change. The patient wrote that the warning signs were apparent from the beginning, suggesting that the clinic was more concerned with getting patients through the process quickly than with achieving long-term outcomes.

Then October 2021 arrived. Jaynisha Williams, a 26-year-old mother of two, showed up for a procedure at The Best U Now’s Plantation office. She didn’t wake up. The Florida Department of Health later filed an administrative complaint alleging that Dr. Millicent Muir, who was identified in facility records as recovery personnel rather than an anesthesiologist, gave sedation two levels higher than Williams had agreed to and did not react appropriately when her patient’s heart rate slowed. Obstetrics and gynecology training was evident in Muir’s Florida Department of Health profile. Her background did not indicate that she was qualified to administer anesthesia during a Level 2 surgical procedure.

The Florida Department of Health filed three separate administrative complaints in response to Williams’ death: one against Muir, one against Serenity Capital Investments, the corporate entity that held the clinic’s license, and one against Dr. John Nees, the facility’s designated physician. Nees’s record ought to have served as a warning in and of itself. Investigators discovered that he had performed sixteen surgeries at another Florida clinic during one of his previous two suspensions. It seems that his past did not stop him from working as a designated physician at The Best U Now.

Unlicensed or improperly credentialed providers operating within facilities that aggressively market on price, frequently in communities where patients have limited access to information about board certification requirements or the risks associated with specific procedures, is a pattern that is well-documented in Florida’s cosmetic surgery industry. Even in the best of circumstances, there is a known mortality risk associated with the Brazilian Butt Lift in particular. That risk turns into something completely different in circumstances such as those that seem to exist at The Best U Now.

The clinic is closed for good. Old listings still use the name along with that upbeat slogan about reasonably priced quality. Reading reviews from RealSelf, the BBB, and the public regulatory record actually reveals that there was a significant discrepancy between what was promised and what was actually delivered. It was lethal in at least one instance. The American Board of Plastic Surgery maintains a public certification search tool for anyone currently considering options for cosmetic surgery in Florida or elsewhere. Any search should start there rather than with a clinic’s own advertising.
